Welcome, Robert Tharp!

We’re excited to welcome Robert Tharp to the Muse Communications team. A longtime friend and former colleague, Robert brings decades of PR and marketing expertise, with a special focus on the legal and professional services sectors.

With a deep understanding of law firms and law-adjacent businesses and industries—plus experience as a former journalist—Robert helps clients tell stories that resonate in a crowded, competitive landscape.

“Marketing too often is an afterthought,” he says. “Everyone’s busy with important work at hand, and that’s understandable. But the amazing thing about marketing and PR is that it really works. I’ve seen it countless times. If a firm has a vision for where they want to be in the marketplace, a disciplined marketing plan can go an enormous way in helping to get there.”

Robert’s approach to legal marketing is informed by more than 15 years in the legal marketing space including as a director of PR at Androvett Legal Media & Marketing.

“All of us are over the moon that Robert has joined us,” said Amy Hunt, owner of Muse Communications. “Robert and I worked together in the 1980s at The Daily Texan (UT’s student newspaper) and he worked with me, Bruce, and Christina for several years at Androvett. So we’re thrilled to be able to work with him again.”

Robert started his career in communications as a public safety and legal affairs reporter for Texas newspapers, including the Dallas Morning News, where he covered business-of-law trends, as well as major trials from commercial litigation to serial killers and was a witness to a Texas execution.

“There is no shortage of talented, highly qualified lawyers and law firms out there. In fact, being talented and qualified are baseline requirements,” Robert says. “With stiff competition like that, one big differentiator is having and executing a marketing plan that highlights your brand attributes and keeps you top of mind for existing and prospective clients.”
